First article inspection paperwork is slow, manual work on every drawing. Someone reads every callout on the print, numbers it, drops a balloon, and transcribes the dimension, tolerance, and note into a spreadsheet — by hand, one characteristic at a time, before any real inspection judgment happens. It is slow, it is easy to miss a callout, and it is the same tedious work on every new drawing. In a small shop it often lives on paper, in spreadsheets and in someone’s head.
